Did you know that buyers will decided the moment they pull up, in your driveway, whether or not they are going to like your home and even want to look at it?
Here are some quick and easy tips to get your home in showcase condition.
Creating Curb Appeal - Buyers form a lasting impression about your home from the moment they see your driveway. A well kept yard implies that the house has been well maintained. You should make sure to keep the yard cut and the bushes trimmed. Pack away the yard decorations, toys and any tools that may present a cluttered look. Your front door is another key part to the buyer's "First Impression". Paint, clean or stain your front door. Replace your old doormat so that buyers will feel welcome when entering your home.
Clean - Ensure you give your home a thorough cleaning from top to bottom to give it that extra sparkle. Give special attention to the bathroom and kitchen, making sure the appliances are sparkling.
De-Clutter - You'll be moving soon so why not start packing today? A home that appears to be “cluttered” will be less attractive to potential buyers. Put away excessive furnishings, wall hangings, plants and accessories. Clear counter tops of excessive items (i.e. small appliances). Remove all magnets and papers from the refrigerator, and clean everything off the bathroom counters.
De-Personalize - Put away all personal items such as photos, trophies etc., that will cause any distraction to potential buyers.
Re-Organize - To create space and order start by re-arranging furniture and put away any excessive furniture you’re not using.
Brighten and Lighten - Light filled rooms are always appealing. Turn on lights in rooms that have no windows. A fresh coat of neutral coloured paint goes a long way to brighten up the space. Keep your décor simple and modern with neutral wall colours. Unusual accessories and strong wall colours will limit your pool of buyers.
Fix Minor Repairs - Buyers prefer to see a home in move-in condition. Even small things such as a dripping faucet can detract from the value of your home. Doing minor repairs will save you excessive cost in the long run. Fix the little things such as loose doorknobs and consider touching up the paint.
